Wellington Shire Council is inviting young filmmakers to put their cinematic talents to the test as part of the 2020 Wellington Youth Film Festival.
The annual festival began in 2018, the brainchild of three former Wellington students who wanted to inspire local youth to create short films.
The festival, partly funded by the state government's FReeZA program, gives young Gippsland filmmakers a chance to showcase their work and meet like-minded people.
The showcase of animation, documentary, music video and narrative-based film works last year drew more than 150 people to watch 17 short films.
To be in the running, the film must be an original work, recorded and edited by the young filmmaker or another qualifying young person. It can be no longer than 15 minutes and can be filmed using any device. This year, a one-minute film category has been added. Entries must be suitable for children and not contain swear words or sexual or violent content.
Entries are open now, so if you are aged 12 to 24, live in Wellington Shire, the Wellington Youth Film Festival wants to hear from you.
Complete an entry form and submit it before midnight on Sunday 4 October 2020. Finalists will be named by Monday 12 October.
