Youth Council welcomes new members

Nillumbik has announced the new members of their Youth Council.

The Youth Council, now in its third year, welcomed Joshua Adams, Elysia Cheche, Soren Kean, Scarlett Magnanini, Sophie McDonald, Aeve Pelley, Aishah Pelley, Ayelet Yahav Zloof and Emily Yin.

They join continuing Youth Council members Martina Charalambous, Niamh Coffey, Bailey Cumming, Orianna Edmonds, Kirra Imbriano and Fieke van der Kamp.

Nillumbik Mayor Ben Ramcharan congratulated all Youth Council members on their appointment.

"The Youth Council are such positive role models for young people in the community, inspiring others to take the lead and follow their passions," Cr Ramcharan said.

"I look forward to working with you, as together we ensure the voices of young people continue to be heard in the decision making of Council," he said.

"I would also like to thank all outgoing Youth Councillors for their incredible leadership, dedication and hard work throughout the last two years."

Youth Council act as a peak advisory group to Council, advocating for opportunities, barriers and issues impacting on young people in Nillumbik, and providing advice to Council about how these issues can be addressed.

The new Youth Mayor and Deputy Mayor will be elected at the Youth Council meeting on 1 May.
