Youth Take Centre Stage at Special Roxy Event
The Riverina's young people will be at the heart of a special day of competition, connection and community later this month, with the Roxy Theatre hosting both the FUSE Cup 2026 Riverina Championships and the launch of a new youth program, LYM LIGHT.
On Thursday 29 October, students from eight schools across the Riverina will compete in the second annual FUSE Cup, battling it out in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for a chance to win a $2,000 prize and represent the region at the State and National Championships on the Gold Coast in November.
The event will be followed by the official launch of LYM LIGHT, a new monthly youth movie night for local teenagers aged 13 to 17 years.
Held on the first Friday of each month, LYM LIGHT will provide young people with a safe and welcoming space to enjoy a movie, catch up with friends, listen to music and socialise in the Roxy café area. The initiative aims to encourage connection, independence and a sense of belonging among local youth.
Manager Roxy Theatre, Emma Di Muzio, said both initiatives were focused on creating positive opportunities for young people.
"We're excited to give young people opportunities to compete, connect and enjoy the Roxy with their friends through The FUSE Cup and LYM LIGHT. These experiences help build a sense of belonging and create memories that will shape how the next generation sees the Roxy."
Leeton Shire Council encourages the community to follow its social media channels to see who will be crowned this year's FUSE Cup champions, while information about upcoming LYM LIGHT events will be shared through the Leeton Youth Council in the coming weeks.
