Youth Week - Council Hosts a Range of Free Activities

City of Darwin is celebrating Northern Territory Youth Week by offering a range of free activities and events from 12 to 17 April, through their Launch program.

Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis encouraged young people, from 12 to 25 years of age, to get involved and attend the many activities being hosted during Youth Week.

"Youth Week is a fantastic initiative and City of Darwin, through our Launch program, is proud to present a range of activities that will have broad appeal." said Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis.

"This year, for the first time we are hosting a movie night at Nightcliff Pool - 'Dive in Movie', which I'm sure will be a real hit."

City of Darwin's Launch team seek to provide young people across Darwin with opportunities to participate in our community through event training, pop up gigs, skate competitions, career development for emerging producers and general skills building.

Youth Week Launch events have been developed by young people, for young people and include include 'Dive in Movie', 'Pre-Heat' social skate, 'Street Heat' skate competition, 'Project Cosplay: Foam Armour' foam armour crafting and 'Couch Surfing'.

"Coach Surfing is back again this year" said Lord Mayor Vatskalis "We partner with Anglicare NT for these popular races; to have fun and in 2019 to highlight the resilience of young people affected by homelessness."
