Youths charged after Rocherlea disturbance

Two youths have been charged over a disturbance at Rocherlea on Monday night.

Police were called to Sassafras Crescent about 5pm after reports of a verbal disagreement between a group of youths and people known to them.

The youths left the scene, and returned carrying weapons.

Police responded quickly, and nobody was seriously injured.

A woman received non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the incident.

One youth - a 17-year-old boy – was charged with Unlawfully Armed In Public, and Assault.

A second youth - a 16-year-old boy – was charged with matters unrelated to the incident.

Both will appear in the Youth Justice Division of the Launceston Magistrates Court at a later date.

Northern Criminal Investigation Branch is following a specific line of inquiry in relation to a third youth.
