Four organisations will deliver programs supporting youth wellbeing, leadership, inclusion and opportunity across Western Australia.
Young people across Western Australia will benefit from more than $1.1 million in new funding over the next two years, with four organisations selected to deliver programs that support wellbeing, leadership, inclusion and future opportunities.
The funding announcement coincides with the two-year anniversary of the WA Youth Action Plan 2024-2027 - Koorlangka Bidi, which was shaped by the voices of more than 2,250 young West Australians.
The funding supports initiatives that align with priorities identified by young people through the Action Plan, including achieving goals, supporting wellbeing and embracing diversity and inclusion.
Four organisations will share the funding across 2026-27 and 2027-28 to deliver practical opportunities that help young people build skills, access support and strengthen connections with their communities.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) will establish a Youth Leadership and Volunteer Pathways program, creating opportunities for young people to develop leadership skills and transition into adult volunteering roles.
Encompass Legal and Community Services will expand its Youth Legal Service, providing employment-focused legal support and resources that help young people understand and exercise their workplace rights.
zero2hero will deliver Hero High mental health workshops to schools across the Wheatbelt, Mid West, South West and Kimberley, improving access to evidence-based mental health education for young people in regional Western Australia.
Youth Disability Advocacy Network (YDAN) will strengthen volunteering pathways for young people living with disability by supporting volunteer-involving organisations to improve accessibility, developing practical resources and promoting inclusive volunteering opportunities across the sector.
The investment builds on initiatives already being delivered through Koorlangka Bidi and reflects the State Government's ongoing commitment to supporting positive outcomes for young people across WA.
Koorlangka Bidi includes six focus areas identified by young people: amplifying young voices, climate action, achieving goals, cost of living, supporting wellbeing, and embracing diversity and inclusion.
