Today's program launch for Sydney WorldPride, featuring a giant rainbow sand sculpture at Bondi Pavilion, has marked 100 days until the first Pride party on 17 February 2023.
Minister for Tourism and the Arts Ben Franklin said Sydney was gearing up to stage WorldPride and celebrate our diverse LGBTQIA+ community, while showcasing the Harbour City to the world as a major events destination.
"WorldPride 2023 will showcase Sydney's natural beauty, lifestyle and attractions to a global audience while unveiling the diverse line-up featured in the festival's program," Mr Franklin said.
"We are the first city in the Southern Hemisphere to host WorldPride and we're incredibly excited to welcome revellers and friends from across the globe for the ultimate celebration.
"This program of events is world-class, and NSW will be abuzz with activity featuring more than 300 events over 17 days. Now is the time to check out the program, plan your festival, book tickets, and join us in Sydney for an unmissable event."
International pop superstar Charli XCX will take the stage for Live and Proud: Sydney WorldPride Opening Concert, joining international pop royalty Kylie Minogue at the official opening concert on Friday, 24 February 2023.
Sydney WorldPride CEO Kate Wickett said excitement is building around the globe for the start of Sydney WorldPride.
"It is an incredible feeling to be unveiling this exciting and diverse program of over 300 incredible Sydney WorldPride events," Ms Wickett said.
"From international stars like Kylie Minogue and Peaches and other local talent like Jessica Mauboy and Steven Oliver, to international theatre and community sports, this is a program that reflects the diversity and brilliance of Australia's LGBTQIA+ community.
