The Stuckeman School in the Penn State College of Arts and Architecture is hosting its annual Research Open House from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 1 in the Jury Space of the Stuckeman Family Building to highlight the diverse research that is ongoing by faculty and students within the school. It is free and open to the public.
The Stuckeman Research Open House brings together research faculty and students from all three departments - architecture, graphic design and landscape architecture - and the school's three research centers - Stuckeman Center for Design Computing, Hamer Center for Community Design and Ecology plus Design - to showcase their work. The open-theme research poster session allows faculty and researchers from across the University to better understand some of the most pressing issues facing designers today including artificial intelligence in design, accessibility, climate change, flood and heat resilience, sustainable energy, cultural resilience, sustainable material and construction practices, biodiversity and conservation, housing crises, water quality and management, sea level rise, etc., while having dialogues and discussion with school researchers about their specific research projects and exploring avenues for collaboration.
"The Stuckeman School brings together the depth and breadth of research across social, ecological and technological systems, critical humanities and cultural inquiry, and co-design, providing insights into specific design inquiries, connecting knowledge across disciplines and translating it into practice and tangible impact for the communities we serve," said Chingwen Cheng, Stuckeman School director. "We hope you come and enjoy talking to our faculty and student researchers to discover something exciting, inspiring or resonating with your own inquiries."
The event is being held in conjunction with the College of Arts and Architecture's Alumni Awards ceremony. It offers Stuckeman alumni a unique opportunity to reconnect with the school, explore emerging research initiatives and learn how strategic partnerships and sponsorships can help accelerate transformative work in the built environment and beyond.
