$104M Boost Doubles GROH Construction Program

State Government supports Government Regional Officer Housing (GROH) with nearly $104 million in 2025-26 State Budget

Funding will more than double the size of the GROH construction program

Delivers over 100 additional GROH homes across Western Australia

The State Government is continuing to invest in regional communities by providing nearly $104 million in funding to deliver more Government Regional Officer Housing (GROH) homes for essential government workers in the regions in the 2025-2026 State Budget.

The funding uplift of $103.8 million, which was committed to in the 2025 State Election, will deliver over 100 additional GROH homes across our State and includes funding to acquire land for the program to continue construction.

Significantly, this number represents a doubling of the current number of GROH homes to be built across regional Western Australia.

GROH plays an important role in ensuring that regional Western Australia receives critical government services, such as schools, hospitals, police stations, by ensuring that essential government workers have a place to call home.

Since 2021-22, the State Government has committed nearly $430 million in new Government Regional Officer Housing and refurbishing existing stock.

This investment is just one part of the State Government's record $5.8 billion commitment in housing and homelessness measures since 2021.

As stated by Housing and Works Minister John Carey:

"Strong regional communities rely on essential government workers, such as teachers, nurses and police officers, having access to housing.

"This State Budget bolsters our investment in GROH by nearly $104 million, which will deliver over 100 new homes across regional Western Australia.

"The State Government is doing everything it can to increase the supply of housing throughout Western Australia - including investing a record $5.8 billion in housing and homelessness measures.

"We've added more than 3,000 social homes with a further 1,000 social homes currently under contract or construction throughout Western Australia."
