$13 million in grants plus hundreds of scholarships to support women in STEM and entrepreneurship

Achieving full and equal opportunities for women and girls in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) is our ongoing commitment. Today, the Minister for Science and Technology made 2 announcements that continue to work to improve gender equity in STEM.

Women in STEM and Entrepreneurship grants open

This round of the Women in STEM and Entpreneurship grants offer $13 million in total funding support. This is the largest amount of funding to date, with grants of $500,000 to $1 million available for each grantee.

The initiative seeks applications from projects that have proven success in breaking down barriers for women and girls to participate in STEM jobs and study. Applicants need to submit evidence of success when they apply.

  • identify sectors with the highest potential to support future growth industries and areas of job growth
  • invite university and business applicants to nominate collaborative industry projects in priority areas
  • award university scholarships to eligible women.

During the process, ATSE will actively engage with a consortium of strategic partners representing:

  • large, medium and small STEM employers
  • applied STEM universities
  • organisations with deep expertise across Australia's STEM ecosystem.
