$13 Million to Help Jewish Communities Rebuild and Heal

Department of Home Affairs

The Albanese Labor Government is investing $13 million to help Jewish communities across Australia recover, reconnect and rebuild following the antisemitic terrorist attack at Bondi.

Every Australian deserves to feel safe, practise their faith freely and celebrate their identity without fear.

Applications are now open for the Australian Jewish Community Priority Projects grant round, supporting grassroots organisations and community-led initiatives that strengthen connections, and bring people together.

The funding will support projects that celebrate Jewish culture and identity, encourage community participation and strengthen relationships between Jewish Australians and the wider community.

It will also improve access to mental health and wellbeing services, helping those affected by antisemitism find the care and support they need.

The investment forms part of the Albanese Government's broader decisive action to combat antisemitism, strengthen protections and support social cohesion.

Applications close on 5 January 2027, more information can be found at Australian Jewish Community Priority Projects Grant

Quotes attributable to Minister for Multicultural Affairs Dr Anne Aly:

"For generations, Jewish Australians have helped build the Australia we know today. Their culture, faith and traditions are woven into the fabric of our nation.

"The antisemitic attack at Bondi shook Australians, particularly the Australian Jewish community, to our core. No act of hatred should ever rob a community of its sense of belonging.

"Healing takes time. It happens when people come together, when traditions are celebrated, when communities feel connected and when people know they are supported.

"This $13 million investment is about helping Jewish Australians rebuild that confidence, strengthen those connections and know they have a place in Australia's future, just as they have in its history"
