15 New Social Homes For Warwick

Fifteen modern social homes are being built in the northern Perth suburb of Warwick as part of the Call for Submissions for Public Housing process.

Six one bedroom-one bathroom and nine two-bedroom, two-bathroom homes are being built in this apartment-style development which has been funded by the Social and Affordable Housing Investment Fund.

The complex is within walking distance of local amenities including Warwick Grove Shopping Centre which offers a variety of shopping, medical and employment activities. They will also be within easy access of transport infrastructure including the rail line and high frequency bus terminal at Warwick Railway Station as well as being close to major transport routes including Mitchell Freeway, Warwick Road and Beach Road.

Hawker Park Primary School and the adjoining Hawker Park public open space are also in easy walking distance. Warwick is centrally located only 13.5 km northwest of Perth CBD.

Manager Business Development Beth Ferialdi said the project represented a contemporary and practical medium density outcome in a location supported by amenity.

"The project team has worked closely with Thomas Building and Proekt Architect through a Preparation of Plans Agreement to ensure the project integrates with the existing community and presents an example of high-quality infill development," she said.

The total construction cost for the apartments is $7.62 million. They will be built by Thomas Building, appointed via the State Government's Housing Construction and Refurbishment Builders Panel.

The apartments have been designed by Perth-based firm Proekt Architecture with input from the internal Urban Planning, Design and Approvals team at the Department of Housing and Works along with review from Government Architect of Western Australia.
