172 cannabis plants seized from Malvern East

Prahran Divisional Response Unit detectives seized 172 cannabis plants from a crop house in Malvern East on Monday.

Police executed a search warrant at an address on Warrigal Road as part of an drug investigation on 7 June.

A hydroponic cannabis crop house was located and the plants were seized along with equipment.

Police also identified the electricity to the property had been by-passed.

No arrests have been made at this stage and investigations remain ongoing.

Quotes from Prahran Divisional Response Unit Detective Senior Sergeant Tim Moreland

"It's important we continue to identify and dismantle criminal networks in an effort to disrupt organised crime activities such as cannabis crop houses.

"We seek the public's continued assistance by contacting police if they observe or hear any suspicious behaviour such as the covering or blacking out of windows, strong plant smells and unusual vehicle or pedestrian movement.

"Premises such as this one can often have crude electrical systems therefore exposing not only any occupants but others to inherent risks."
