2019 Distinctly Devonport photographic competition announced

The Devonport City Council is calling on budding shutterbugs to grab their cameras and begin taking pictures in and around the municipality for the chance to win prizes in the 2019 Distinctly Devonport photographic competition.

Photographers have until Monday 15 April at 5 p.m. to submit their shots in the categories of:

  • Devonport Active Outside – images taken at Devonport's regional sports facilities and/sporting events
  • Devonport Nightscape – images taken at night in Devonport
  • Devonport foreshore and coastline – images of the Devonport foreshore and coastline
  • Distinctly Devonport – images depicting Distinctly Devonport sites, landmarks or the beautiful landscape in/or around Devonport (ie: Don, Spreyton, East Devonport etc)
  • Devonport CBD & Retail Spaces – images taken in Devonport's retail spaces and;
  • Devonport in the Gloaming – images representing Devonport in Tasmania's distinct afternoon/early evening glow

From Thursday 18 April until Monday 13 May the public will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite photograph with the overall People's Choice winner receiving a $150 voucher.

An artist judged winning photograph will also win a $150 voucher with the public voted category winners each receiving $50 vouchers.

Winner will be announced on Monday 3 June 2019.

A similar competition proved extremely popular when conducted three years ago with the Mayor, Cr Annette Rockliff, saying that some high-quality entries being received.

''I am sure it will be no different this time,'' Cr Rockliff said.

''Time and again I have seen some wonderful images of our municipality taken and this is a great opportunity for people to show off the parts of Devonport and its surrounds which particularly appeal to them.''
