2024 Banjo Paterson Writing Awards Close In May

The 2024 Banjo Paterson Writing Awards close in one month and entries are still open with Central West Libraries.

February 17 marked 160 years since the birth of Andrew Barton 'Banjo' Paterson as well as the opening of entries for the 2024 Banjo Paterson Writing Awards, which will close on May 10.

Children under 16 are especially encouraged to enter either a short story no longer than 1,000 words or a poem not exceeding 30 lines, in the ABC Radio Central West Children's Writing Awards. Entry costs $5 per entry for all Children's Writing Award submissions.

Adults can enter the competition in two categories, Short Story with a maximum word limit of 3,000 words or Contemporary Poetry not exceeding 200 lines. Entry costs $15 per entry for both adult categories.

Entrants can submit their writing through email or post before Saturday May 10. The winner will be announced at the annual Orange Readers and Writers Festival on Saturday August 3.
