2026 Study NT Int'l Student Awards Nominations Open

NT Government

The Finocchiaro CLP Government is backing the Territory's international education sector, with nominations now open for the 2026 Study NT International Student Awards - marking 10 years of the program.

International education is one of the Territory's biggest export earners - our sixth-largest export and second-largest services export - driving jobs, skills, and growth.

The Awards recognise outstanding international students, alumni and the local employers who support them, with nominations closing on 20 July 2026.

International students who have excelled in their studies and made a difference in their communities are being sought for the 2026 Study NT International Student Awards, which is celebrating a decade of the program.

International students strengthen our cultural, social, and economic ties, bringing diversity to the community and skills to the workforce. Recognising and celebrating their achievements - and the businesses that employ them - reinforces that the Territory is a welcoming, multicultural study destination, and supports our efforts to attract more students to study, live and work here.

This year's categories are International Student of the Year, International Student Volunteer of the Year, International Alum of the Year, and International Student Employer of the Year. The awards ceremony will be held alongside the 10th annual Study NT Student Ambassador Graduation, recognising the 20 Student Ambassadors who have championed the Territory as a study destination over the past year.

"International students are a critical part of the Northern Territory's community, workforce and economy, and we want to see international student numbers grow," Minister Cahill said.

"The Territory has a world-class international education sector. These awards recognise the talent and dedication of our students and the employers who support them and celebrate the achievements and contributions they make in our local community."

2025 International Student of the Year, Gilbertofer Tanoto, said the Territory had shaped his journey.

"I came to the NT with a laptop and big dreams. Now I'm teaching, creating, capturing moments, inspiring others, and learning every day. The NT truly has a funny way of turning students into storytellers."

The Finocchiaro CLP Government is committed to growing the international education sector and positioning the Territory as a study destination that attracts the brightest minds from around the world.
