Happy StarWars day – May the Force be with you!

I've recently been spending a bit of time at the Dunolly Football Netball Club, attending their season launch and then the first home game of the season this past weekend. It was wonderful to see the senior team defeat Lexton by 6 points, claiming their first win since round one in 2019! Well done guys.

During my two recent visits I have been blown away by the welcoming and friendly atmosphere, as well as the commitment of the DFNC committee to see this club thrive after a difficult and challenging couple of years.

You may have heard me speak of the proposed new Deledio Park Pavillion that will replace the current club rooms which are no longer fit for purpose. This is a priority project for Council and has an estimated cost of $5 million. The plans have been finalised and sourcing for funding to make this project become a reality has begun in earnest.

Since becoming the councillor for Flynn Ward, I have attended the Deledio Sports Committee Inc meetings and I am so proud of this small but enthusiastic group of volunteers who have worked tirelessly for many years now, to bring the new Deledio Park Pavillion a reality.

The Deledio Sports Committee Inc. has set a target of raising $100,000 towards the building and they are hoping to do this with several fundraising events. The main one is the 'Paver Fundraiser', whereby community members are able to purchase a single, double or triple stone paver. These pavers can be personalised with names or businesses and will be permanently installed at the pavilion as a recognition of support.

This proposed building is incredibly exciting and will do wonders to boost participation in local sport as well as attracting new user groups and increase regular user groups' usage of the facility and will serve Dunolly and wider community for many years to come.

I urge everyone to get behind this fantastic project. If you need more information on how and where to purchase pavers, please feel free to contact me on any of the below and I can point you in the right direction.
