• Significant footpath upgrades are already underway at the intersection of Oxide and Blende Streets

Council wishes to advise that a range of upgrade and replacement works will be carried out across Broken Hill in the next few months targeting footpaths, disability ramps, and pedestrian refuge islands.

Works will begin on March 16 and pedestrians may experience some disruption at the following locations:

Blende Street between Sulphide Street and Chloride Street.

O'Farrell Street between Morgan Street and William Street.

Patton Street between Queen Street and Bonanza Street.

Rakow Street between Harris Street and Nicholls Street.

The upgrades are part of Council's Active Transport Plan and Disability Inclusion Action Plan and are expected to be completed by the end of June 2021.

"We know there's a lot of footpaths and ramps that need to be repaired or replaced across the city, and our crews are keen to roll these works out," said Council's Group Manager Infrastructure and Assets, Codie Howard.

"There's around $400,000 worth of improvements to be done, so we just ask that people remain patient if there's any disruption, and take note of any signage posted around work sites."

All works are funded by Council and the Commonwealth Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications under the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Grant Program.
