6 March is Clean Up Australia Day

On Sunday 6 March, Casey residents are encouraged to join in with thousands of other Australians for the country's largest community-based environmental event - Clean Up Australia Day.

Residents can choose to join one of the many registered groups at sites across Casey helping to remove rubbish from waterways, parks and community spaces, or register your own local site.

While litter is an ongoing issue in the community, the pandemic has led to a significant surge in single-use plastics and unprecedented numbers of face masks, takeaway coffee cups and food packaging littering local footpaths, parks and beaches, with more rubbish entering our environment by the day.

With local communities right across the country joining in, residents can make a real difference in their own neighbourhoods that will also have flow-on benefits for the broader environment and wildlife far beyond Casey.

Registered sites all receive clean-up kits from Clean Up Australia to help ensure the health and safety of volunteers and the community.

Local schools and businesses are also encouraged to hold their own events with a special Business Clean Up Day running on Tuesday 1 March and a Schools Clean Up Day on Friday 4 March.
