60 Trees, 60 Years: Explore Warwick's Anniversary Trail

Anniversary Tree Trail

To mark its 60th anniversary, the University of Warwick has created a special tree trail across its campus. The trail features 60 trees, each carefully chosen and planted by staff to reflect personal stories, memories, and connections to life at Warwick.

Visitors are invited to explore the trail and discover the stories behind these trees, while enjoying the rich greenery of Warwick's campus.

Kelly Baker, Head of Landscape and Operations, said: "The gardens team wanted to mark this milestone in a way that everyone could enjoy. Each tree on the trail has a story, and we hope visitors, students, and staff will enjoy exploring them and watching them grow. The trail also celebrates the University's ongoing commitment to excellence, wellbeing, and learning."

The trail features a diverse range of trees, from majestic Cedars to native Hollies. Dean Jackson, who chose a Holly tree, explained: "This native Holly is associated with many myths and superstitions, including protection against witches and goblins. It's a classic symbol of winter, and has captured people's imagination for thousands of years."

Other trees celebrate themes of resilience, nature, and community. The tree trail isn't just a celebration of Warwick's 60-year history - it's also a visible symbol of the University's commitment to environmental stewardship and wellbeing, creating green spaces that will benefit students, staff, and local residents for decades to come.

The trail also recognises the dedication of the Estates and Gardens teams, whose hard work has maintained and shaped Warwick's campus over the past 60 years, creating an environment that continues to inspire everyone who visits.
