The final of the "Thesis in 4 Minutes" competition, in which PhD students are asked to present their PhD theses in a maximum of four minutes, will take place on 12 May at 12 noon at the School for Doctoral Studies. The event will be streamed live on the UAB's YouTube channel.
On May 12, the PhD students selected by the jury will present their research in plain language suitable for a general audience in a maximum of four minutes.
The finalists who will present their PhD theses in front of the panel are: Estel Blanch Ojea, Yaiza Cano González, Júlia Casado Carbajo, Sergio García Carbonell, Laura Cerrillo Gil, Pedro Garcia Gagliardi, Karina Borísova, Anabel Pérez Real, Maite Ergüin Gamazo and Mengya Xu.
The jury, made up of one representative of each of the offices of the vice-rectors for Research, for Communication and Culture, and for Vice-Rector for International Relations and Language Policy, and the director of the School for Doctoral Studies, UAB researchers, and members of the Permanent Board of the School for Doctoral Studies, will deliver the awards, which are accompanied by a cash prize. The first prize includes 800 euros and the financing of the winner's trip to Vic (100 euros). The second prize is endowed with 500 euros. Another additional audience prize consists of 200 euros and, as a novelty, this year the special prize Assumpció Català i Poch for the defence and promotion of the Catalan language will grant a cash prize of 300 euros (these last two prizes are compatible and cumulative with the jury prizes).
