The Greens have retained all 3 of their lower house seats despite attacks from the ALP, Coalition and other minor parties in a testament to the strength of their progressive policy platform and the hard work of the many thousands of volunteers across the state.
Speaking today, Greens MPs from across the state, including the newly elected Abigail Boyd, commented on the campaign.
Tamara Smith, MP for Ballina said: "I'm so proud of our electorate.
"We have campaigned for action on climate change and fair funding for our region and the voters have responded by giving me the privilege of representing them for another four years," Smith said.
Jamie Parker, MP for Balmain said: "The fact NSW Labor invested so much money attacking The Greens rather than spending it to win Liberal seats was very disappointing.
"It's not surprising Labor failed to win so many marginal Liberal seats when they were spending so much money and resources against sitting Greens MPs.
"It's particularly satisfying to know that despite all of the efforts of the Australian Hotels Association to defeat sitting Greens MP we were all returned with large vote increases," Parker said.
Jenny Leong, MP for Newtown said: "Thank you to the people of the Newtown electorate - we've always said that the local issues that impact our community go beyond those geographically located in our boundaries.
"The Greens always commit to being a strong voice for climate action and equality.
"The Greens are the only women on the cross-bench in the Legislative Assembly, we will be standing up for women across the state and we will make sure that the rights of women and those who face inequality in NSW are defended and protected," Leong said.
Abigail Boyd, newly elected to the Upper House said: "This destructive conservative government did not deserve another term.
"We will work every single day to hold them to account and to progress the issues that really matter to the people of NSW - real action on climate, fighting for our environment and defending the most vulnerable in our communities," Boyd said.
David Shoebridge MP said: "This is a really significant win for The Greens NSW this election with growing support for Jenny, Jamie and Tamara - with Abigail Boyd now joining us in the Upper House.
"We ran the most progressive campaign ever, tackling climate change and inequality - it worked."
