A million reasons to Wander out Yonder in time for school holidays

  • 10,000 tourism vouchers on offer to spend on tours and experiences
  • Western Australians encouraged to secure their $100 discount online from 10am Monday, September 21
  • $1 million initiative to support WA tour and experience companies in managing the impacts of COVID-19
  • Ten thousand tourism vouchers worth $100 each will be up for grabs from Monday as part of a new $1 million campaign to support Western Australia's tour and experience businesses.

Just in time for the school holidays, the 'A million reasons to Wander out Yonder' campaign will give Western Australians who spend at least $100 on a tour or experience, a $100 discount.

The limited number of vouchers will be on offer from 10am this Monday (September 21) - with Western Australians able to register online on a first-in, best-dressed basis.

The $1 million campaign will see more than $2 million injected directly into Western Australia's tour and experience companies, while also helping to promote the incredible activities on offer all around the State.

The campaign will provide discounts on the huge range of tourism options available in WA - including winery tours, fishing charters, Aboriginal cultural tours, diving experiences, food tours, and many more.

Visitors will be able to redeem a $100 voucher by spending at least $100 on a tour or experience. This means people have the option of making a half-price saving on a $200 activity, or choosing to get a $100 discount off a higher-value or 'bucket list' experience.

Participants will also be able to bundle several tours and experiences through participating visitor centres.

The latest element of the McGowan Government's successful Wander out Yonder campaign, the promotion will provide direct support to the State's tour and experience businesses as they manage the impacts of COVID-19.

The vouchers will be redeemable online, by phone, or in person at participating visitor centres. The tour or experience must be booked by October 31, 2020, and undertaken by the end of the year.

Vouchers will be available to the first 10,000 people who register at http://www.wandervoucher.com.au from 10am on Monday, September 21.

As stated by Premier Mark McGowan:

"This latest initiative of the successful Wander out Yonder campaign offers a great incentive for Western Australians to find out more about our State from the people who know it best.

"COVID-19 has impacted WA's tour and experience businesses, and this program will give people more of a reason to take up some of the excellent activities our local operators in Perth and in the regions offer.

"With the school holidays just around the corner, now is the time to explore our backyard and support local businesses - take an Aboriginal cultural tour, get up close with our unique wildlife, or go abseiling down stunning gorges with adventure experts."

As stated by Tourism Minister Paul Papalia:

"West Aussies have been travelling around the State in huge numbers, with accommodation booked out in many of the State's tourism destinations.

"However, we know that some tour and experience operators are still doing it tough so we're encouraging Western Australians to use this incentive to tick a WA experience off their bucket list.

"In ordinary times, out-of-State travellers enjoy these experiences in huge numbers while making lifelong memories. Whether it is swimming with dolphins, going on a bush tucker tour, or enjoying a river cruise along one of our pristine waterways - there are scores of activities on offer all over the State."
