The access road leading to the Collers Beach car park in Mollymook has reopened following works by Shoalhaven Water to replace the road's dilapidated bridge.
The road was closed in November 2025 following a routine inspection that revealed termite damage and structural issues to the wooden bridge, making vehicle access unsafe.
Acting Mayor Peter Wilkins said the new concrete bridge would be welcome news to locals who use the small car park to access the dog beach near Mollymook Golf Course.
"The new bridge will allow residents and visitors to once again access Collers Beach safely and easily," Cr Wilkins said.
"This popular spot is well-loved by dog walkers, beachgoers and locals, and I'd like to thank everyone for their patience while works have been carried out," he said.
Works undertaken by Shoalhaven Water included:
bridge demolition
excavation of footings
new reinforced concrete footings
installation of reinforced box culverts to allow stormwater to flow through
concrete kerb
reconnection of existing services to new the bridge.
landscaping and access road reinstatement.
Collers Beach remained open and accessible throughout the works via the Bogey Hole car park and Shipton Crescent. The reopening of the access road restores vehicle access to the closest car park to the beach.
