Adani approval a win for regional jobs and investment

The Minerals Council of Australia welcomes the Queensland Government's final approval of Adani's Carmichael mine and infrastructure project.

This decision is a win for Queensland and Australia - especially for Queensland's regional communities.

It is also an overdue vote of confidence in the science and evidence-based approach to approving mining projects.

The approval and finalisation of the Groundwater Dependent Ecosystems Management Plan (GDEMP) removes the last hurdle for construction to commence.

Queensland and Australia will benefit from thousands of new regional jobs and long-term investment in the mine and rail infrastructure.

Over 8,000 direct and indirect jobs will now flow into central Queensland allowing thousands of Queenslanders to live and work in their communities.

Through mining taxes and royalties, the Carmichael mine will generate billions of dollars for taxpayers over decades to fund nurses, teachers, police, hospitals, roads and other services and infrastructure for Queensland families and communities.
