Additional CCTV Cameras To Boost Safety In Griffith CBD

Council has commenced the installation of 20 new CCTV cameras along Yambil Street, further enhancing safety and security within the CBD.

The cameras are being installed from Kookora Street to Daines Street and will bring the total number of CCTV cameras across Griffith's CBD to 121.

The upgraded network will provide significant safety benefits for residents, businesses and visitors. The cameras will be monitored by Griffith Police and can be viewed in real time or used to extract footage if required.

Griffith Mayor, Councillor Doug Curran said the additional cameras would help improve safety and support police investigations.

"The cameras will not only help deter crime, they will also assist police investigations and provide valuable evidence in the event of an incident," Mayor Curran said.

It is also hoped the cameras will help reduce instances of vandalism and graffiti in the area.

The new cameras are equipped with high-resolution lenses and are capable of recording 24 hours a day, seven days a week, helping ensure comprehensive coverage throughout the precinct.

The installation represents a significant investment in the safety and security of Griffith's CBD and reflects Council's ongoing commitment to creating a safe, welcoming and vibrant city centre.

Planning has also commenced for the final stage of CCTV works in Yambil Street.
