Additional two charged after break and enter, pursuits

Two youths will face court today charged over alleged aggravated break and enters and pursuits in and around Moree last weekend.

Local police, working with officers attached to New England Proactive Crime Team and the Police Dog Unit, responded to number of incidents between Friday 29 September 2023 and Saturday 30 September 2023.

Following inquiries under Operation Regional Mongoose, five teenagers – aged between 14 and 17 – were arrested, and all have now been charged and remain before the courts.

Following further inquiries, about 8.30am today (Friday 6 October 2023), officers issued a future court attendance notice to two youths at a facility in Northern Region.

A 17-year-old boy was charged with aggravated break and enter dwelling in company damage property, aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence-people there, and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.

A 12-year-old boy was charged with two counts of aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence-use violence, aggravated assault with intent rob and use corporal violence, destroy/damage property in company, damage property by fire/exp, and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.

Both boys will appear before a children's court today (Friday 6 October 2023).

Operation Regional Mongoose is a high-visibility police operation to tackle serious property-related crime committed predominately by young offenders. Inquiries are continuing.
