AEGIC has welcomed the Western Australian Government's commitment to a new $320 million agricultural facility in Perth, including new accommodation for AEGIC.

AEGIC Interim CEO Dr Ken Quail said new facilities would allow AEGIC to deliver even more value on behalf of the Australian grains industry.

"Being co-located with other key grains industry partners, including Intergrain and DPIRD, will allow AEGIC to further strengthen our collaborative approach to research, market insight and innovation," he said.

"This investment will significantly boost Australia's grains research and development capacity and will deliver value for many years to come.

"In addition, this facility will provide an excellent base for in-person engagement with our international grains customers and will demonstrate a new level of the importance Australia places on grains R & D."

AEGIC's Perth headquarters are currently located at the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development's South Perth site.

AEGIC also has a facility in Sydney which includes research laboratories, a pilot mill, pilot bakery and commercial analytical laboratories.

AEGIC was established in 2012 by the WA Government and the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) to increase value in the Australian grains industry.

Earlier this year, GRDC and the WA Government reaffirmed their support for AEGIC through to 2025-26 with $24 million total core investment.
