Affordable apartments shine a positive light on way to Success

  • Development will support jobs and contribute about $6.8 million in economic activity
  • New homes will help buyers live close to family and friends
  • A new three-storey medium-density apartment development will support jobs, boost Western Australia's economy and provide new housing options for singles, couples and families in Success.

Construction is due to begin soon on 16 high-quality apartments in a joint project between the Department of Communities and the Building Development Group Constructions.

Lot 101 Biloxi Loop, Success is part of the McGowan Government's $394 million METRONET Social and Affordable Housing and Jobs Package announced in May 2018.

The package is a major investment in building liveable and connected communities close to transport infrastructure.

Biloxi Loop will include a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments and improve housing diversity and affordability by increasing housing opportunities for people of varying ages and family types.

Providing home ownership opportunities in established suburbs allows people to stay near friends and families, or to move to Success to access nearby public transport, amenities and services within the City of Cockburn.

Of the 16 new homes, 14 will sell at affordable full-market value and two will remain for social housing. Six apartments will include liveable design features to meet the changing needs of young families, seniors, or people with a disability over their lifetimes.

Construction is due to start in September 2019 and is scheduled for completion in late 2020.

A diverse range of home ownership opportunities are available through the Department of Communities and Keystart. Visit http://www.openingdoorswa.com.au to learn more.

As stated by Housing Minister Peter Tinley:

"Under the METRONET Social and Affordable Housing and Jobs Package, the Department of Communities is developing land around train station precincts to address the shortage of affordable, well-located one and two-bedroom homes in Perth.

"The Biloxi Loop project in Success is a great example of this work in action given it's located just 150 metres from Aubin Grove Train and Bus Station and is close to schools and local shops.

"The McGowan Government is focused on job creation and this project will support an estimated 17 jobs during the construction phase and generate an estimated $6.8 million in economic activity."
