Aggravated Assault Suspect Apprehended in Tennant Creek

Northern Territory Police have arrested a man in relation to an aggravated assault that occurred in Tennant Creek earlier today.

Around 1pm, police received reports of a disturbance outside a property on Limonite Street. A 25-year-old male had entered the front yard of a residence allegedly armed with an edged weapon, and made threatening remarks. A 17-year-old male resident confronted the alleged offender, an altercation occurred, and the 17-year-old suffered injuries to his head.

The victim was conveyed to Tennant Creek Hospital for medical assessment.

The offender fled the scene but was located and arrested a short time later.

He remains in custody with charges expected later this evening.
