Local producers and horticultural stakeholders are invited to attend a free Agtech Fundamentals training workshop in Mudgee on Wednesday 21 May, delivered as part of the NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (NSW DPIRD) Farms of the Future program.
The event, held at the Australian Rural Education Centre, will provide practical, introductory knowledge about how Agtech and connectivity solutions can be used on-farm and the potential benefits for productivity and sustainability.
NSW DPIRD Agtech Specialist Clare Belfield said the workshop, Monitoring your farm with Agtech, will equip participants with foundational skills and confidence to explore and adopt digital technologies on their farms.
"This event is designed to give farmers the tools they need to begin integrating Agtech and connectivity solutions into their operations," Ms Belfield said.
"We'll help attendees understand what Agtech is, how it can support their farm management decisions, and the steps involved in selecting and using the right devices and systems."
Participants will learn how to:
- Provide an understanding of Agtech and connectivity definitions and terminology;
- Help identify opportunities for Agtech on farm;
- Explain the practical steps required to select appropriate Agtech and connectivity devices;
- Build confidence in developing a plan to purchase, install and use Agtech on farm.
Ms Belfield said those attending will leave with the knowledge and skills to complete their own farm Monitoring Plan, as well as the confidence to discuss their needs with technology providers.
"This is more than an introduction to Agtech—it's a pathway to smarter, more adaptive farming practices that help meet both current challenges and future opportunities."
The Agtech Fundamentals: Monitoring your farm with Agtech workshop will be held on Wednesday 21 May at the Australian Rural Education Centre - 267 Ulan Road Mudgee, NSW 2850.
