Free training is rolling out for Queensland electricians to design and install battery storage systems, with enrolments open now for free, face-to-face training at TAFE Queensland's Acacia Ridge and Toowoomba campuses.
The initiative is being delivered through the TAFE Centre of Excellence in Clean Energy Batteries, which is jointly funded by the Albanese and Crisafulli Governments through the National Skills Agreement.
It supports electricians to upskill in an expanding area of their trade, in particular as both Governments roll out initiatives focused on delivering affordable, sustainable power.
The initiative, Grid Connected Battery Storage Systems Designer Installer Skill Set, is being delivered at no cost to eligible participants.
Delivered over four days, the skill set allows licensed electricians to upskill without extended time away from work, returning with job ready skills.
Demand for skilled battery professionals is rising rapidly, with the Clean Energy Council's latest Rooftop Solar and Storage Report revealing a record breaking 183,245 battery units were sold nationally in the second half of 2025 - a four-fold increase compared to the same period in 2024.
Licensed electricians, apprentices and trade assistants also have the option to complete a suite of fully funded and self‑paced online battery micro‑credentials.
