Allan Alerted to North-East Link Misconduct in 2023

Liberal Party Victoria
Jacinta Allan warned about North-East Link misconduct in 2023

Premier Jacinta Allan's $15 billion CFMEU corruption scandal continues to worsen as new documents confirm new warnings of major project misconduct were provided to Labor in 2023.

A Monthly Development Phase Progress Report for the North-East Link secured by the Victorian Liberals and Nationals under Freedom of Information stated the CFMEU had prevented surveyors from carrying out their duties effectively during the month, which "has had a negative impact on progress" and that assembly of the Tunnel Boring Machines was noted as being delayed by a collective 109 days partly due to the CFMEU.

Under Labor, the cost of the North-East Link has blown out from $10 billion in 2016 to at least $26.1 billion.

These documents follow revelations Director-General of the Victorian Infrastructure Delivery Authority, Kevin Devlin, warned the Allan Labor Government of serious wrongdoing on Victorian major projects in 2023 and, as a board member of Roads Australia, identified up to 30 per cent cost blowouts As put by such misconduct.

Shadow Minister for Transport Infrastructure, Evan Mulholland, said: "It is undeniable Premier Allan turned a blind eye to $15 billion of rorts and corruption on major projects.

"Jacinta Allan as minister responsible, and Premier, was repeatedly warned about CFMEU behaviour adding costs to taxpayers and causing disruption on construction sites.

"Instead of acting on these warnings, Jacinta Allan turned a blind eye to this behaviour, at an enormous cost to taxpayers.

"You can't trust the person who caused the problem to clean it up, only a Wilson Liberal and Nationals Government will enforce the law, find the money and stop the rorts."
