Alleged assault of Tasmanian worker

Guy Barnett,Minister for Resources

Today's alleged assault of a Tasmanian worker going about their lawful right to work, if true, is simply disgraceful.

This is just the latest report of aggression from radical protestors, and enough is enough.

The Tasmanian community is rightly sick and tired of workers being threatened and harassed by radical protestors, for simply going to work.

These alleged reports of violent and threatening behaviour are exactly what our Workplace Protection laws would have prevented if they weren't blocked by Labor.

These strong laws have been backed by the Tasmanian people at the last three elections, and we are committed to reintroducing them to the Parliament to protect the right to work without fear of threats and aggression

It's past time Labor –either under David O'Byrne or Shane Broad - dropped their ideological opposition and backed them.
