Angels in our Town, flying high again

All that Wingecarribee's wonderful first responders, volunteers and service personnel do for our community is to be celebrated. . . and you're invited to the party! Put Saturday December 2, 2023, 7 PM in your diary and let's show-up to shower them with gratitude at the Angels in Our Town 'THANKYOU!' parade down Bong Bong Street, followed by a free family-friendly concert at Corbett Gardens.

Wingecarribee Shire Council is proud to partner with Angels in Our Town and shine a light on the many unseen and unsung heroes who rush to our rescue, bringing comfort and support when we need it most.

"It's a rare and exciting occasion to see so many of our hidden-away Angels gathered together," says organiser Antoinette Sampson. "These unsung heroes have such genuine humility that many were initially reluctant to be the centre of our attention, so that we could say THANKYOU! However, all who took part in our inaugural parade last year were so moved by the experience that we can't wait to applaud their walk down Bong Bong Street again in 2023!"

Angels in Our Town is thrilled to be joined this year by members of the Rural Fire Service, State Emergency Services, Paramedics, Red Cross, Country Women's Association, Oz Harvest, Police, Medical Workers, Teachers, Volunteers and many more.

"Having so many take part in our street parade will be a powerful reminder, in times when many feel overwhelmed, that we are not alone," Antoinette says. "For the community to rally around the Angels in Our Town in this way does so much to uplift our collective spirits!"

Hundreds of local children dressed as angels will pave the way for our heroes, handing out small messages of hope and kindness to community members lining Bong Bong Street.

Bring a picnic blanket and celebrate with us into the evening at the free family friendly concert in Corbet Gardens following the parade.
