Appeal after home invasion at Fairfield

An investigation is underway after a man was assaulted during a home invasion in Sydney's south west overnight.

About 8.15pm (Thursday 3 September 2020), police were called to York Street, Fairfield, following reports three men had forced entry into a unit.

Police have been told one of the men – armed with a machete – demanded money from the occupant, a 44-year-old man, before assaulting him.

They stole personal belongings and cash, before fleeing in a vehicle.

The occupant did not require medical treatment.

Officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command established a crime scene and are investigating the incident, which is believed to be targeted.

As part of ongoing inquiries, detective would like to speak to three men who may be able to assist them.

Two of the men are described only as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance.

Investigations are continuing.
