Applications for 2021 Community Leadership Program are now open

Greater Shepparton City Council encourages locals who are interested in developing and strengthening their community leadership potential to join the 2021 Community Leadership Program.

The program is entering its eighth year, with many successful graduates having gained necessary skills, taking their leadership to the next level.

The Community Leadership program comprises of seven workshops, providing participants with the knowledge and tools they need to develop their skills as a community leader.

The program will involve seven fortnightly sessions on a Wednesday from 5.30pm for 2-3 hours, dependant on the session. Two of the seven sessions will be virtual and the participants will break up in two groups on a Tuesday or Wednesday night.

Director Community Kaye Thomson says the program is a great way to help members of the community enhance their leadership skills.

"Participants will participate in a range of topics including, resilience and goal setting, understanding community diversity, leadership, conflict resolution and communication, community engagement, networking, public speaking and designing workshops."

"The 2021 program has been designed to be COVID safe. This year, participation numbers have been reduced and sessions will be held both online and in person to ensure we are keeping everyone as safe as possible."

"This year numbers are limited, with just 20 places available. The program will run from March to May. We hope that members of the community will take part in this great program and look forward to their leadership development," says Ms Thomson

Participants must be aged 18 years or older. Applications close Monday 1 March 2021.
