There is still time to apply for Council's 2026/27 Local Heritage Fund grants - with up to $2,000 available per project to assist in the maintenance of heritage-listed properties.

Applications close Friday 6 November 2026 and successful projects must be finished by 28 May 2027.

Cessnock City Mayor Daniel Watton said the grants provided practical support for property owners while helping protect the area's unique history.

"Our heritage places tell the story of our communities and contribute to the character that makes our region special," Mayor Watton said.

"The grants can help property owners undertake important works that preserve and enhance heritage buildings for future generations to enjoy."

General Manager Natalia Cowley said the Local Heritage Fund helps owners undertake works that might otherwise be difficult to complete.

"Caring for a heritage property often comes with additional considerations, and this program helps owners carry out maintenance and conservation works in a way that respects the heritage significance of their property," said Ms Cowley.

The fund will be administered in line with Council's Local Heritage Fund Guidelines, which outline eligibility, assessment criteria, funding conditions and matching contribution arrangements.
