- Western Australian Ex-Service Organisations (ESOs) to receive a share of a $2 million funding pool within the 2026/27 Veterans Facilities Fund (VFF) grant
- Up to $200,000 is available per successful applicant for facility upgrades and remediation for ageing ESO infrastructure
- The grant round is part of a two-year, $4 million VFF pilot program catering to the infrastructure and facility needs of Western Australian ESOs
Organisations supporting current and former Australian Defence Force (ADF) members and families can apply for a share of a $2 million fund to upgrade their ageing infrastructure, thanks to the newly opened 2026/27 Veterans Facilities Fund (VFF).
The VFF is offering WA Ex-Service Organisations (ESOs) grants of up to $200,000 to modernise and maintain their premises, ensuring these important facilities remain fit for purpose.
This is the second round of the Defence West-administered grants and applications close at 4pm AWST Wednesday, 13 January 2027.
The 2025/26 round funded 15 ESOs from across metropolitan and regional Western Australia to progress a range of works, including a new toilet block at the Nannup RSL Sub-Branch, a major upgrade for the community hall at the Veterans' Transition Centre in Jarrahdale, and a significant refurbishment of the Armadale RSL Sub-Branch.
Legacy WA also received funding to overhaul their plumbing infrastructure at the Legacy Busselton Camp, a campground respite facility designed for use by current and ex-serving Defence members and their families.
Other recipients included the Brookton and Mount Barker RSL Sub-Branches who received funding to renovate their kitchen facilities, allowing members to connect over meals and in family-friendly settings.
In WA, ESOs are independent, not-for-profit organisations that work to support current and former ADF members and their families through recognition, commemoration, congregation, and social activities.
In 2026/27, eligible submissions will be reviewed by an independent panel against the VFF assessment criteria, which include a description of project outcomes and impact, demonstration of need, capability and capacity, and value for money.

As stated by Veterans Minister Hannah Beazley:
"Our veterans have made significant sacrifices in service to Australia, helping protect the freedoms and values we hold dear.
"The Cook Labor Government is demonstrating its commitment to veterans by helping Ex-Service Organisations maintain and improve the facilities that support their members and communities.
"Through the VFF, veterans and families of veterans will be able to gather and commemorate in quality facilities and memorial spaces."
