Appointment Of Members To Takeovers Panel

The Governor‑General has recently appointed and reappointed the following part‑time members to the Takeovers Panel (the Panel) for a three‑year period beginning on 2 April 2026.

Appointments

Mr Justin Harris, Ms Christine McLoughlin, Ms Jane McAloon and Ms Antonella Pacittti.

Reappointments

Mr Joseph Fayyad, Ms Emma‑Jane Newton, Ms Erin Tinker, Ms Sylvia Falzon, Ms Louise Higgins, Ms Kate Towey, Ms Kristen Jung, Mr Micheal Lishman, Mr James Stewart, Ms Yasmin Allen, Ms Rebecca Maslen‑Stannage, Ms Diana Nicholson and Mr Neil Pathak.

The Takeovers Panel is Australia's primary dispute resolution body during takeover bids, playing a critical role in promoting certainty, efficiency and fairness in the takeovers market. It resolves disputes in a timely and commercially focused manner and provides clear guidance to support well‑functioning and competitive capital markets.

The Government has appointed and reappointed highly qualified members to the Panel, bringing senior‑level experience across investment banking, law and corporate leadership. Their expertise in complex and contested public mergers and acquisitions will ensure the Panel remains well equipped to deal with the full range of issues that arise during takeover activity.

They maintain a strong balance of skills, experience and judgement across the Panel, while supporting the Government's commitment to gender diversity on Australian Government boards.

The functions and powers of the Takeovers Panel are conferred by the Corporations Act 2001 and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission Act 2001.
