Aqua Energy Closure Update

Aqua Energy is pleased to advise that all 'dry' areas of the facility will resume normal operations from 6:00AM Friday 20 December. These areas include the gym, group fitness rooms, creche, reception, café and upper toilets and change rooms.

All programs normally conducted in these areas, including Living Longer Living Stronger, dry group fitness classes and child care will resume in their usual locations. Timetables for the holiday period will apply as previously published.

The indoor pool areas, including the 25 metre pool, hydrotherapy pool, the combined (learn to swim/leisure) pool and the sauna - along with the 25 metre pool amenities, and the Guthridge Parade member's entrance will remain closed while further works are concluded. As previously advised, there will be no further Learn to Swim classes for this week however families with swim school memberships are strongly encouraged to bring their children to the outdoor pools to make the most of the warmer weather.

The Sale Outdoor Pool will remain open from 6:00am to 9:00pm Monday to Friday for this week, regardless of temperature. Our operating hours for Saturday and Sunday are 8:00am to 6:00pm. The entry to this pool is from the Guthridge Parade carpark.

Water based Group Fitness classes will be conducted in the 50 metre outdoor pool until the indoor pool areas re-open.

The facility closure followed detection of asbestos during routine inspection of the building, commissioned in preparation for future site development works.

Subsequent testing of all areas of the facility were all-clear in all the 'dry' areas of the facility. Old ceiling material in the 25 metre pool hall was identified as containing asbestos and, after considering all control options, and as a precaution, the decision has been made to remove this material completely, meaning the indoor pool areas need to remain closed.

Following removal, additional cleaning will be undertaken in the affected area to ensure no potential asbestos particle contamination remains as a result of the removal works.

Aqua Energy Members, including swim school members are advised that credit adjustments, payment schedule adjustments or expiry date adjustments will be made to all current memberships in recognition of the week of closure.

Exact date for reopening of the indoor pool areas will be advised as soon as this is known. Aqua Energy management team thank you for your patience during this unforeseeable event and apologise for any inconvenience to our members, visitors and staff.

We look forward to a full restoration of service levels as soon as possible.
