Architect appointed to design major Lynwood Senior High School upgrade

  • Architect appointed for $18.3 million Lynwood Senior High School upgrade
  • Construction expected to start in December 2021
  • Project to support about 64 jobs in the construction industry 
  • Lynwood Senior High School is set for an $18.3 million boost, with a range of new buildings and amenities planned for the 46-year-old southern suburbs school.

    The design will be completed by With Architecture which has been appointed recently. The project will include a new classroom building, student services, performing arts centre, sports hall and various refurbishments.

    Construction is expected to begin in December 2021.

    This project is part of the McGowan Government's Recovery Program investing $492.2 million for upgrades and refurbishments at public schools around Western Australia.

    As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:

    "This is a significant project at Lynwood Senior High School; it will see ageing infrastructure replaced with new buildings, to create top rate learning and recreation spaces for students.

    "Students will enjoy hitting the stage in a new performing arts centre, while the new sports hall will be an outstanding space for physical education.

    "The project is part of the State Government's commitment to enhance facilities at 63 public schools around Western Australia."

    As stated by Cannington MLA Bill Johnston:

    "The staff and students at Lynwood have achieved some fantastic results with existing facilities after the Liberal Party neglected the school for years.

    "This appointment shows the McGowan Government is getting on with the job of delivering upgrades to Lynwood Senior High School.

    "Congratulations to the whole Lynwood school community on working with the McGowan Government to achieve this fantastic outcome.

    "These $18.3 million upgrades represent a landmark investment in our community that will modernise the school and create local WA jobs."
