Armed man Tasered outside Granville Police Station

A man armed with a knife has been Tasered and arrested after allegedly confronting two police officers this morning outside the Granville Police Station in Sydney's west.

Just after 7.30am (Monday 18 March 2019), two Inspectors, attached to Cumberland Police Area Command, were walking towards the front doors of the police station in Carlton Street, when they were allegedly approached by the man wielding a knife.

The officers drew their weapons and covered the man as they repeatedly instructed him to drop the weapon.

It's alleged when the man refused to comply and kept walking towards the officers, one deployed his Taser and effected the arrest.

The man will be taken to Westmead Hospital for assessment.
