Arrest after car stolen with sleeping child inside, WA

Midland Detectives have charged a man in relation to an incident that occurred on Saturday 1 September 2018, where a vehicle was stolen with a two year old child inside.

It will be alleged around 11.55am, the man stole a Holden Commodore sedan from a residence in Gala Way, Forrestfield. The boy was asleep in the car, WA Police say.

It will be further alleged as the man was driving off, the vehicle struck the father of the boy when he attempted to stop the man leaving. He received cuts and bruises to her body.

It will be alleged the man stopped the stolen vehicle on Edinburgh Road, Forrestfield and took the boy from the car and left him on the street.

Around 12.10pm, police sighted the stolen Holden Commodore sedan travelling at speed along Railway Road in Gooseberry Hill. A short time later the vehicle crashed into bushes on Gooseberry Hill Road in Gooseberry Hill.

The investigation by Midland Detectives resulted in the arrest of a 27-year-old man from Coolbellup being today (15 September 2018). He was charged with:-

•Aggravated Robbery;

•Steal Motor Vehicle; and

•Provide False Details.

He is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court tomorrow, 16 September 2018.
