Arrest and Charges - Drug and Deception Offences - Palmerston

Northern Territory Police are have arrested a 41-year-old female in relation to the alleged importation of methamphetamine into the Northern Territory.

At about 2:30pm on Tuesday 29 October 2019, the female was arrested in Palmerston for allegedly obtaining and using false identification documents to hire parcel lockers for importation of the illicit substance methamphetamine.

A search warrant was subsequently executed at the female's residence and further evidence of offending was obtained. The female has been charged with:

2 x Possess schedule one dangerous drug - traffickable quantity in public place

1 x Supply schedule one dangerous drug

2 x Possess schedule one - less than traffickable quantity

1 x Forgery and uttering documents

1 x Identity crime

1 x Destruction of evidence

1 x Possess drug administration implements

She was remanded in custody and is due to appear in the Darwin Local Court today.

Detective Senior Sergeant Lee Morgan from Drug and Organised Crime said, "Police will continue to work hard to stop the importation of illicit substances into the Northern Territory. People that are importing and selling these substances are praying on the weak and vulnerable. There is no place in our community for people that import and distribute illicit substances. The suppliers have no appreciation for the destruction they are causing in the community and in the lives of individuals".
