Arrest - Drug Offences - Mataranka

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 58-year-old male for drug offences in Mataranka.

On Thursday 8 November police located the male and conducted a search of his vehicle, Northern Territory Police say.

Drug Detector Dog Hugo provided a conditioned response to a bag the male was carrying and a subsequent search located approximately 4 grams of cannabis plant material and $700.

Police located a further 28 grams of cannabis plant material and approximately 1400 clip seal deal bags following a search at the man’s residence.

Detective Sergeant Ian Kennon said the Central Substance Abuse Intelligence Desk and Dog Operations Unit will continue to work together to target those that supply dangerous drugs, particularly in Indigenous communities.

The man was issued with a notice to appear in Katherine Local Court for the following offences:

  • Supply less than traffickable quantity of schedule 2 dangerous drug
  • Possess less than traffickable quantity of schedule 2 dangerous drug
  • Possess schedule 2 dangerous drug in public (cannabis)
  • Possess tainted property

He is due to appear on 3 January 2019.
