Arrest Made in Alice Springs Aggravated Assault 29 November

The NT Police Force has arrested a 36-year-old male in relation to an aggravated assault that occurred in Alice Springs early this morning.

Around 2am, Social Order Patrol members were alerted to an assault that occurred along Gregory Terrace. It is alleged that while a 34-year-old was walking along the street, a second male approached him and punched him to the head.

The victim fell to the ground and struck his head on the pavement, rendering him unconscious for approximately five minutes.

It is not believed the victim and the offender are known to each other.

St John Ambulance attended and conveyed the victim to Alice Springs Hospital for treatment.

A 36-year-old male was arrested at the scene and remains in police custody, with charges expected to follow.
