Art you can walk all over

We're bringing the 'vibe' to vibrant with this bold, abstract art installation on the footpaths around Glenferrie train station. Placemaking brings the location to life - in this case, from the ground up!

Abstract art has been installed along the train station footpaths on the Railway Arcade and Glenferrie Road.

Visitors and locals can enjoy this creative way to join the sustainable transport to the bustling shopping precinct - with an art walk!

Revitalising public spaces in this major activity centre is part of placemaking, guided by the draft Place Plan. This is just an early step in our longer-term placemaking journey to revitalise the precinct. The artwork activates the space, aiming to make it more welcoming and attractive to people. This added creativity helps to refresh the look and feel, bringing renewed energy to the trodden paths.

The artist, Baxter, designed the artwork and took inspiration from the types and directions of movement around the site. He translated that into a series of characters and forms which are repeated along the footpath.

The area must be inspiring - back in February 2021, artists filled the footpath one day with eye-catching 2D and 3D chalk art!

Come down and walk all over the art!
