Artists to Revamp Corowa Skate Park with Murals

Corowa Skate Park Mural EOI

The Federation Primary Prevention Team (FPPT), in partnership with Federation Council, is thrilled to announce a colourful transformation for the Corowa Skate Park. Following the successful acquisition of grant funding from the Alcohol and Drug Foundation Incorporated, the park will soon feature a series of large-scale murals designed to celebrate local culture and youth engagement.

The project will see local and regional artists collaborate directly with young people and the community to revitalise the skate park's shelter sheds and toilet blocks.

Federation Council Mayor, Cr Cheryl Cook said this initiative aims to turn a functional recreational hub into a vibrant social landmark.

"Our skate parks are more than just a place for sport; they are a social landmark for our youth," Mayor Cook.

"This funding allows us to turn a functional space into a landmark of local culture, discouraging graffiti through high-quality professional art and giving our young residents a space, they can truly call their own."

The project is built on the foundation of community pride and ownership. By integrating professional street art into the park's design, the FPPT seeks to invigorate local youth culture and provide a creative platform for the local skating and scootering community.

Key Project Highlights:

  • Community Workshops: Local youth will participate in design workshops to help shape the themes and styles of the artwork.
  • Professional Mentorship: Selected lead artists will provide mentorship to aspiring creators during the installation phase.
  • Tourism Impact: This installation joins a growing trail of public art across the region, positioning Corowa as a destination for creative tourism.

FPPT is currently calling for Expression of Interest (EOI) from artists or creative teams to submit an application to lead this transformation.

Submission Deadline: 11:29 pm, Thursday, February 5, 2026.

Project Budget: $16,500

Artist Brief: Detailed requirements are available from Council's website.

Site preparation is scheduled to begin in April/May 2026, with the mural installation phase spanning several weeks. While partial closures of the park may occur during this time, Council is committed to providing regular updates to minimise disruption to users. Residents are encouraged to stay tuned for upcoming community consultation dates.
