
Hobsons Bay City Council is calling on young artists to take part in the Woods Street Youth Art Prize.
Entries are open for the popular biennial event until 3pm on Friday 12 June.
The competition is an opportunity for young people aged 14 to 25 years living, working, studying or with a connection to the western suburbs of Melbourne to submit various forms of art for both display and to go in the mix for a range of awards.
A range of artistic mediums are welcome, from 2D works such as painting, drawing or photography, 3D works like sculptures or installations, as well as film and performance art.
Six prize categories are up for grabs in 2026 with various amounts of prize money, including:
Open category - $1000
Runner-up open 500 - $500
Hobsons Bay artist - $400
Artist encouragement award (under 20) - $200
Artist encouragement award (over 20) - $200
People's choice award - $400
Works will be displayed at Laverton's Woods Street Arts Space from 4 to 19 September, with winners announced at the exhibition's opening night on 4 September.
